The fast lane is about to get even faster for travelers in Barcelona and Madrid, as Mastercard expands its Fast Track services to El Prat and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airports. The new additions, which join existing service at Athens and Istanbul, are part of Mastercard’s global strategy to ease the burden of travel for its premium cardholders.

Cutting Through Crowds

Mastercard’s Fast Track allows eligible travelers to breeze through security at participating airports. The service, available to holders of certain Mastercard cards, is designed to combat the growing congestion in major European airports. “Travel should be as rewarding as the destination itself,” said Brice van de Walle, Mastercard’s Executive Vice President of Core Payments Europe.

In practice, the service varies depending on the type of Mastercard. World Legend cardholders enjoy unlimited access to Fast Track, and can extend this privilege to up to three companions. World Elite and World cardholders, however, must meet their issuer’s specific eligibility criteria.

The Mastercard Collection, which encompasses Fast Track services, airport lounges, and dining privileges, now spans over 1500 lounges and 200 Fast Track lanes worldwide. Beyond airports, members can also secure priority restaurant reservations and privileged access to cultural events.

Mastercard has hinted at further European and global expansion, with London, Paris, and Frankfurt among the airports rumored to be next. For now, travelers in Barcelona and Madrid can look forward to smoother journeys, with more cities likely to join the Fast Track network in the coming months.
