Prosecutor’s Office investigates hotel owner in Ternate regarding corruption case

“They were questioned in the case of food and drink budgets and official travel at the secretariat of the deputy regional head for the 2022 fiscal year,”

Ternate (ANTARA) – The North Maluku (Malut) High Prosecutor’s Investigation Team is intensively conducting investigations into a number of hotel and accommodation owners in Ternate City in connection with the alleged corruption case in food and drink budgets and official travel for the Acting Governor of North Maluku, Al Yasin Ali.

“They were questioned in the case of food and drink budgets and official travel at the secretariat of the deputy regional head for the 2022 fiscal year,” said Head of the North Sulawesi Prosecutor’s Office, Richard Sinaga, in Ternate, Wednesday.

However, Richard has not specified how many people and who the hotel bosses have been questioned.

“They have been questioned since Tuesday (19/3/2024) and today we are investigating several hotel and accommodation owners regarding the investigation into the 2022 deputy regional head secretariat budget,” said Richard.

It is known that in the audit results of the North Maluku Provincial Government Inspectorate it was found that there was a decision letter (SK) to cut the Official Travel budget at the Secretariat of the Deputy Governor of North Maluku for the 2022 fiscal year which was allegedly signed by M Ali Yasin, who at that time was the Deputy Governor of North Maluku.

The official travel budget is a right for every ASN provided by the state for the purposes of carrying out state duties inside and outside the region.

It is strongly suspected that official travel rights were cut for purposes whose purpose was not clear. Moreover, these cuts do not have a legal basis as a reference in legitimizing the Decree on cuts to the Official Travel Budget.

Previously, the results of the Inspectorate’s audit found expenditure transactions originating from UP/GU funds that had not been accounted for amounting to IDR 499,362,410.

From the management of non-budgetary funds sourced from funds deducting money from official travel and food and drink purchases received by employees and third parties amounting to IDR 760,225,186.

In fact, expenses for official travel within and outside the WKDH area for the 2022 fiscal year which are not supported by legal equipment procedures or evidence authority for SPT, SPPD and post mortem sheets whose validity and fairness are doubtful amount to IDR 1,249,972,844.
