TUI’s luxury cruise brand, Airtours Cruises, reports a 26 percent increase in bookings, driven by new market segments and an expanded fleet. The company has added ten ships from Oceania Cruises to its portfolio, which now includes 104 vessels from 16 different lines and approximately 6,000 routes.

Expanding the Luxury Portfolio

The brand claims to offer one of the most extensive luxury cruise portfolios in the German market. The current selection spans classic ocean and sailings, expeditions, and exclusive river trips. Key names in this lineup include the award-winning Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the modern Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, and Explora Journeys.

Steffen Boehnke, Director at Airtours, noted in a statement that luxury travel now appeals to a much broader audience than a few years ago. The influx of hotel guests, connoisseurs, and design-oriented travelers is reshaping the industry’s demographics. By integrating Oceania Cruises, the brand aims to offer a “luxury entry product” to capture this expanding market.

Boehnke emphasized that many of the new customers are loyal guests of high-end hotels who are trying sea travel for the first time. They aren’t just booking a ship, but a floating version of their preferred hotel. This shift suggests that the lines between luxury hotel stays and cruising are blurring for a significant portion of the modern traveler.

Despite the integration of Oceania Cruises, traditional names like Hapag-Lloyd and Regent Seven Seas continue to command high demand. However, the strategy also focuses on attracting younger demographics through modern yachting concepts. This dual approach ensures the brand appeals to both seasoned cruisers and those seeking a first sea voyage.
